Meet Our Staff
Dr. Pauline Yap, DVM
Dr. Yap graduated from The Kamehameha Schools in 1978, holds a BS in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor and a DVM from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine class of 1996. She has been a practicing veterinarian for over 20 years and an avid animal lover all of her life.
Dr. Yap is married, a mother to three adult children, grandmother to seven grandchildren and is a pet parent to two dogs, Chunkie and Pebbles, and two cats, Soki and Nugget.
Aside from animal health and other animal related issues, Dr. Yap enjoys cycling for pleasure, reading Science Fiction and Fantasy, studying Hawaiian Language and sculpting in clay, both traditional clay and polymer clay.
Jodie Mishima, DVM
Dr. Mishima was born and raised in Honolulu. She graduated in 2004 from St. Andrew's Priory. She attended Colorado State University and graduated with her DVM degree in 2012. Her favorite animal...mouse.
Dodie is a 1976 graduate of Pearl City High School and has worked in many different fields from accounting, assistant store manager, part time and substitute elementary school teacher and currently the practice manager.
She is the second youngest of eight siblings. Dodie is married and a mother to three adult children and a grandmother to a very special little boy. She is also a pet parent to her dog named Pāʻani and two granddogs, Penguin and Kapaea.
Dodie loves mostly spending time with her grandson, enjoying the sun and water and traveling when she can.
Born and raised on Oʻahu. Kelly has loved animals all her life. She joined the Ke Ola Pets ʻOhana in 2014. When she’s not at Ke Ola Pets Hospital she enjoys gardening, fish keeping, and hanging out with her dogs, cats, chinchilla, guinea pigs, tortoise, birds.
Krystal was born in Hilo, Hawaii but was raised in the mainland and returned back to the islands after high-school. She has previously gone to school at Windward Community College for the Vet Tech program and has been working in Veterinary medicine for almost 6 years.
In her spare time, she enjoys pet sitting, cooking and also loves to go hiking, going to the beach or anything outdoor related. She has been with the Ke Ola Pets’ family for about 3 years. She owns a 6 year old Holland Lop named Lola and loves to look after her favorite fur-niece Olive. Krystal is currently studying for the VTNE so she can become a Certified Veterinary Technician.
Brittany is from Kūkaniloko O'ahu. She attended numerous schools across the island. Growing up, Brittany gained hands-on experience with feathery, furry, hairy, scaly, slimy invertebrates, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
As a part of the Ke Ola Pets’ ʻOhana since 2017, Brittany strives to ensure that everything with a heartbeat feels like ʻohana and that no one gets left behind.
Brittany stays busy outside of work multitasking 4 children. Her own ʻohana commonly practices gathering rights from mountain to ocean. She is a firm believer in eating what you grow and sustaining and building resilience.
Christina Breland was born and raised on the North Shore of O'ahu where she attended and graduated from Kahuku High School. She then moved to Spokane, Washington where she attended Spokane Community College and received a certificate in Medical Office Billing. Christina returned to O'ahu in 2005 and started working in the veterinary field in 2007.
Although Christina feels like she’s doing the most for her patients while in an emergency and critical setting, she also loves general practice. Christina came home to Ke Ola Pets Hospital in 2018.
Christina is married and a mother of two. When she’s not helping her furry friends at work, she loves going to the beach, cooking, spending time with her family and traveling.
Kali was born in Chicago and moved to O'ahu in 2018. She studied animal science at Kansas State University and competed on their equestrian team. She loves to spend her free time hiking around the island and exploring new places. She has two fur babies; a golden retriever named Lynyrd and a cat named Pika.
